Buncombe County: More Restrictions to Come Over COVID-19

Officials with Buncombe County and the City of Asheville held their daily COVID-19 Coronvirus meeting again on Tuesday announcing new cases in the county that bring the total to 12.

Buncombe County Health and Human Services Interim Medical Director Dr Jennifer Mullendore said it's evident that there is community spread present in Buncombe County.

Mullendore continued to stress the need for social distancing, hand washing often, and covering your coughs and sneezes.

The window for mitigating the virus to lessen the impact is closing according to Buncombe County Emergency Preparedness Director Fletcher Tove.

Tove said and amended Emergency Declaration was currently being worked on to present to county leaders that would further expand on mandatory business closings and better define essential and nonessential travel, update guidance on gatherings.

Leaders will meet again tomorrow at 2:30pm for another briefing.
