Billy Gibbons, John Fogerty Join Forces on New Song "The Holy Grail"

Billy Gibbons revealed earlier this year that one of his initial meetings with John Fogerty to discuss the upcoming Blues and Bayou Tour, featuring ZZ Top and Fogerty's band, turned into a jam session.

Gibbons said at the time that that jam session turned into a song. Today that song, "The Holy Grail, has been released.

Set to a boogie-style beat, the song features Fogerty and Gibbons trading vocals and guitar solos. You can listen to it above.

The former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman Fogerty and Gibbons agreed that it was a joy to collaborate.

"It's not an overstatement to say the writing a song with John Fogerty is a genuine bonus," Gibbons added. "It's fair to say that John and I are both pumped about our collaboration and we think this new one called 'Holy Grail' hold true with some great storytelling and some solid guitars movin' the number right along. It begs a shout of, 'Turn it up!'

Gibbons said in March that he met at Fogerty's house this winter to talk business and jam a little. He says the two ran through songs like "Fortunate Son," "Tush" and "Bad Moon Rising." But before they were done with the session, Fogerty came up with a new riff.

"We went straight to work," said Gibbons. "It was an exercise in just absolute joy."

ZZ Top and John Fogerty's co-headlining tour began last month in Atlantic City, NJ. There are 24 concert dates in all.
