7 people shot, 2 killed in Asheville Shooting

A shooting at a West Asheville home has left 2 people dead and 5 others wounded with varying degrees of severity.

Police say it happened at a home on Hansel Avenue.

Of the five injured police say their injuries range from life-threatening to minor.

Multiple juveniles were victims of this shooting.

Police are not releasing names at this time pending notification of the victim's families.

Cause of the shooting is still under investigation but police say there is no threat to the community.

APD released a statement that reads:

Asheville, NC (April 19, 2018): On Wednesday, April 18, at approximately 10:31 pm the Asheville Police responded to Hansel Avenue after reports of multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Upon arrival officers located Erica Nichelle Smith (32), of Asheville, who had succumbed to her injuries. Six additional individuals were transported to Mission Hospital for treatment, where a juvenile victim succumbed to their injuries.
